Nicola Bannerman is an Australian based artist and sculptress specialising in creative high quality jewellery collections and intricate wire sculptures.
Her work is a culmination of her love of the unique outdoor environment that Australia has to offer, from the stunning eucalypt and tropical rainforests, arid deserts, rugged coastlines and marine life of the Great Barrier Reef.
Working from her Sydney studio, Nicola’s elegant and distinctive jewellery collections are a result of a time consuming process beginning with observation, drawing and photographic documentation; then complex model making and experimentation with materials such as copper and aluminium. Once the design is resolved then production begins in solid silver or gold, and then the application of the final finish with much attention to detail.
Nicola’s love of the natural world drives her to work sustainably; recycling as much precious metal as possible, and keeping production small using all handmade elements and little outsourcing. Her designs are timeless and have been made to be worn for many years to come, irrespective of passing fads and trends. For more examples of her work including sculptures visit www.nicolabannerman.com
