My work is inspired by the everyday and the mysterious. Referencing vibrant colour schemes found in exotic climates as well as subtle forms found in and around my surrounding Scottish landscapes makes for striking yet elegant jewellery.
The making process plays an integral part in the development of the designs and I work instinctively with tools and materials to create beautiful linear forms which are light but robust and suitable for everyday wear. Using precious metal wires in silver and gold allows a great deal of freedom and experimentation within the work due to their malleable nature. Bright gemstones are also used to add a pop of bright colour to the jewellery which creates intrigue and is eye catching for both the wearer and the viewer.
When making larger statement fashion necklaces I also use non-traditional jewellery materials such as textiles and enjoy the challenge and contrast of working with something softer and which has altogether different properties and processes.
The overall aim is to create pieces which are a chic, edgy alternative to high street jewellery and which appeal to the individual with a specific eye for design.
