Kolk Coffee Cup

USD$20.00

Description

The Kolk Coffee Cup is created to encompass the tradition of drinking coffee with the craft of crockery into the most essential form. The object marries modern processes with those that have been around for thousands of years. The part is then coated in a basalt grey glaze, with the final product resembling an igneous rock. The design is the result of an obsession to create the most simplified form possible that married modern processes with those that have been around for thousands of years. The Kolk cup is made from a process that evolved more than two thousand years ago which achieves the toughness and strength expected from porcelain. Each saucer is machined from a block of natural beech wood using a CNC milling process, achieving precision and consistency not possible with other workshop methods. The design is the result of an obsession to create the most simplified form possible while honouring the process and materials. Flavours are elevated to bring a sharp and bold taste, while each sip is delivered smoothly. Combining modern manufacturing techniques with those that have been around for thousands of years.
