1.02 Captured Stone, Single Piece Necklace
Description
The 1.02 captured stone (single piece necklace) is composed of type 308 stainless steel, silver solder, and amphibolite gneiss – a metamorphic rock personally collected from the Hudson Highlands area. The nature of the fabrication process and the varying geometry of the stones yields pieces of which no two are alike. Fishmouth coping detail at every solder location, silver soldered stainless steel single piece necklace holding a piece of amphibolite gneiss. Fabricated by Chris Platt, in New York City.
Our goal is to build interest and equity in the pieces through a strong focus on craft and form. Rather than starting with precious materials that are given worth through economy, we use materials like stainless steel that function well from an engineering perspective and it is through manipulation that value is added to the work.
